Vale Juniors F.C & Congleton Town F.C – Joint Statement
Congleton Town Football Club and Vale Juniors Football Club have reached an agreement to work more closely together to support local football.
Vale Juniors Under 17 team will play their home matches at the Booth Street ground starting next season. Games are played on Sunday afternoons with kick-off at 2pm.
This will be a second ground sharing arrangement made by Congleton Town who have made the facilities available to Congleton Vale Football Club for the last three years for their home matches in the Cheshire County League. Vale Juniors are attracting growing numbers of junior boys and girls and the ground at Booth Street will add to the number of pitches that the club requires to meet its fixture obligations.
As part of the closer working arrangement Vale Juniors has become a shareholder in Congleton Town Community Football Club, the owner of Congleton Town FC. Plans will be developed which will involve the continued sharing of facilities, coaching resources and fund-raising programmes.
The longer- term ambition of both clubs is to encourage as many local youngsters to play the game and to enable talented young Congleton-based players to represent Congleton Town at non-league level.
Nigel Moorhouse, Chairman of Congleton Town Community Football Club says, ‘Congleton Town Community Football Club is the supporter-owned community benefit trust which owns and manages Congleton Town FC. We are committed to promoting football in the community for both boys and girls of all ages and we are delighted to announce this new working arrangement with Vale Juniors.
There is a lot of footballing talent in the area and it is important that we give all players who are keen to develop their skills the opportunity to do so in the town they live in. It is our objective to have as many local youngsters as possible representing Congleton Town FC in the future.
This new arrangement is an early but important step towards achieving this. We will make Vale Juniors extremely welcome at Booth Street.’
Graham Evans Chairman of Vale Juniors says ‘Steve Pointon and I are pleased to call Congleton Towns Booth Street ground home for the Under 17s this coming season. To have junior football at the town’s marquee venue will be a massive boost to the players and management team.
Vale Juniors have been working hard to map Congleton’s footballing pyramid. We hope that working closely with our trusted partners, our players will continue their footballing life story as they move to adult football. With both Congleton Vale and Congleton Town sharing the venue on Saturdays, Vale Juniors U17s will be gracing the hallowed turf on Sundays.
This a great opportunity to form stronger links between the two clubs. The use of the pitch at booth street helps tremendously with the limited football pitches available for the youth of Congleton.
One of our aims is to encourage more of the youth of Congleton to progress from Junior football into the football pyramid and play for Congleton Town. This opportunity provides a great step in that process. We hope to work more closely with Congleton Town FC to develop & improve sports facilities for everyone in Congleton.
Big thanks to all concerned for having the combined vision and passion for Congleton’s footballing community to make this happen.
